Our resident DJ is Jenney Surelia, combining her experience as a dancer and teacher with that of playing music in festivals, marathons and milongas, putting together a delectable auditory treat every week. Here's our take on the music...

Golden Age Tango and more...
We get that must dance feeling with Golden Age Tangos, so not a week goes by without a visit from the Gods of Tango's pantheon, Carlos Di Sarli, Juan D'Arienzo. Aníbal Troilo, Enrique Rodriguez,, Pedro Laurenz, Ricardo Tanturi Miguel Caló and of course Osvaldo Pugliese the list goes on.
However when we got more into dancing and music we realised that actually we do like post- Golden Age stuff when it's played now and then. Saying we will strictly play golden age music is like dancing in sequences. You've got to shake it up a little now and then. "As long as it's danceable" became our motto and the "happy feet" test was born.

Tandas & Cortinas
We love tandas, cortinas too obviously. But a set of songs to which you can dance, and then finish dancing if you choose, is for us a starting point of many of the ways of the milonga.  Sound like Yoda? Maybe a little.
We also like our tandas in tandem, this means the following the traditional pattern of playing "tango, tango, vals, tango, tango, milonga," format.  This way you get an idea of what is coming next. Don't forget the obligatory cortinas that make us bop on the way back to our seat.

Sound System

The sound runs on a pair of kv2 speakers with a Mackie console, a high quality sound system with great clarity.  Some Tango recordings aren't great so having a hard working sound system is important.  We think that it's not simply what we play at Abrazos that counts, but how it sounds too.

Chacarera...
...always comes at the end of the night, it's been like that since the beginning and why change our little tradition?  We like our Chacarera like an espresso at the end of a great meal. A quick pick-me-up with a spoon of sweetness.

What people say about the music...

"Jenney, your music is responsible for my sore feet, I just couldn't stop dancing." Martin

"Great music." Lukasz
